Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1431H

Dear Friends,

Indeed as the sun sets today and thereby setting a somewhat sombre dusk, Ramadhan 1431H will be yet again leave the shores of our lives. If God Willing, it will be most fortunate for us to have another chance of a fiesta of ibadah in the next Ramadhan come next year. Of course, that would be a BIG ‘IF’ since there’s no telling when one will eventually answer the call of the Creator (I won’t even delve on the hocus pocus chain mail pertaining to Tanda – Tanda Ajal Akan Tiba or to that effect).

Sigh, although it is a fact, but the passing of a great thing is really a moment that I rather not face, after all I am very much handicapped in handling changes in life. Given that I can recreate the atmosphere of Ramadhan, it would never be a passable substitute to the real thing. There will no sahur like a sahur in Ramadhan…

… there will be no more dates sold quite aplenty as during Ramadhan…

… there will be no more breaking fast as cheery as would be in Ramadhan…

…. and there will be no more congregational prayers as merry as tarawihs in the nights of Ramadhan…

Of course, this is only musings of the heart saddened by the departure of an event so great ever bestowed upon us and never intended to belittle other obligatory deeds which are by themselves special and dignified. Another thing I learnt from the various tazkirah I went is that according to the ways of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), we should do the following;

i. When meeting people at the end of Ramadhan and on ‘Eid, we should say Taqabbalallahu minkum to other Muslim brothers and sisters who in turn must say wa minna wa minkum taqabbal ya kariim in solemn hope that Allah would accept our humble offerings of Fasting and other good deeds in Ramadhan;

ii. When going to the mosque for the ‘Eid prayers, use a different route to and fro so we may meet more friends and offer the du’a in number (i);

iii. Before dusk of the last day of Ramadhan, please offer du’as to our parents, family, relatives, friends and all Muslims who has since passed away asking for Allah’s forgiveness and blessings upon them.

And customery to EPI, I would like to:

  • extend my sincere apologies,
  • asking you to halalkan makan minum saya,
  • taqabbalallahu minkum,
  • have a safe journey anywhere during the holidays,
  • a very Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1431H, and
  • semoga panjang umur berjumpa kita semua di Ramadhan 1432H insya Allah;
